Blighty Spares No Change

Mind the poverty gap, folks, a week in London yielded ZERO in the Department of Found Money. You've got a better chance of finding a Ducat in China than finding any loose Sterling lying around London.

Total this past week = $0 but a wonderful vacation as a guest at Holly's Kentish Cloud in Tower

0+1=1

Wednesday = 0, as in 0uch.

Today I found a penny as I came out of the subway at 116th street. It was a great excuse to stop and put down all of my Trader Joe's and Whole Foods bags, which were stretching my arms.

Total haul today = .01 and longer arms

The Recession is Over

Wheat paste graffiti never lies! This was shot on Crosby Street last week.

Saturday = .12 (dime and pennies)

Sunday = .01 (close call)

Monday = Subway shells out two more cents. Someone told me it was filthy to pick up coins on the floor and that I was teaching my daughter bad habits. I told my daughter not to listen to crazy strangers who can't mind their own business. Update: Subway offers up two *more* cents.

Total haul last few days = .17

Summer's Coming - Get Out Your Metal Detector

Yesterday I didn't find anything, which often happens on days that I take a taxi.

Today I found a ridiculously oxidized penny between the cobble stones of Crosby Street. I was cold and hunched over and that's probably why I saw it.

It's in the 50s still and I'd rather be sunbathing.

Total haul today = .01 and a chill

TOTAL to date = $23.48

Obama Skateboard - Cash Only

This was in a woman's clothing store in the 80's near Lexington Avenue. Obama in his Obamaman suit, ready to shred.

I guess everyone is saving their pennies for this, because there were none to be found.

Null Set

I don't really know what to say other than, I am going nowhere in a hurry.

Another zero day.

Carnegie Null

I didn't find anything around Carnegie Hall today. Nor did I find a blessed thing on the bus, subway, or streets. Stingy Tuesday!

Dog Walk Keeps Hope Alive

So far today - nothing! Let's hope the dog walk scares up something so I don't have to post a big goose egg up in this B.

Markets Down, Spare Change Limited!

I didn't find anything yesterday except for the 85 pennies between the tracks at Prince Street. I bet your could get $5 from the 14th Street tracks, not that I would want to. Two words; rat poop.

UPDATE: Trading is up! I found a penny at the 6 train 33rd Street station!

Yesterday = zip
So far today = close to zip

Total haul for the day = .01

No Stimulus Package Yet

Yesterday was a total zero, nada, niente, zilch, zip, zatz.

Today wasn't much better. I found one cent under a bicycle locked to a No Parking sign.

Total haul for the day = .01

...!!!

I won't lie. I'm scared. I covered a lot of ground today - and bus floors, and movie theater floors - and I didn't see anything but bottle caps and old gum. I think today might be a zero. It all depends on the third dog walk that happens at the end of the day but I have to get out there and find something before midnight for it to count.

No such luck. Today was a big bunch of nothing.

Back on Track

Let's naught talk about yesterday. You can buy zero dollars here.

This morning I found a penny on the floor of a residential lobby. Good start to the day.

Greg Marotta, whose radio show, "The Natural," hosted FoundMoolah as a guest recently, found a hundred dollar bill in a parking lot recently.

And another friend, we'll call her 'Hats,' saw a quarter in the crack of a taxi seat but when she went to photograph it for us, it was gone! And no one reaches in there. Or do they?

UPDATE: Found another penny at Prince Street subway. That's becoming a reliable station.

Total haul so far today = .02

0+1 = 1

After a zero day yesterday (17 Jan 2009), I am delighted to report that I found a penny this morning on the floor of a deli. And it's early so I'm hopeful to find more loot before midnight.

Nothing. It's a rare day but it happens. I didn't find diddley today. Maybe because most of the surfaces were covered in snow. A cold snow that crunched underfoot.

The One That Got Away

I was on an elevator today and as the doors closed to go up stairs, I spotted a penny on the floor just on the other side of the door. It wasn't there when I came back down. Damn it.

August 26th

Another no money day - what's up!? I guess I wasn't out and about as much as usual, but still coming up with a zero for the day is not normal.

Saturday, August 23, 2008

WTF?

More than 48 hours and no free clams? Wassup? It's not like I was bedridden the last two days. I was out there hoofing it like every other New Yorker who loves a beautiful day. I walked through the Lower East side, the East Village, up and down lower Madison Avenue, Union Square Park and more.

Could it be that everyone has spent their Economic Stimulus checks and now we're all back to counting pennies and clipping coupons? No way, man. This is New York! I'll find big money today - I just know it.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da

August 2 & 3
I spent the weekend on a private island and, while a few acorn caps did catch my eye, I did not find any stranded coins.

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Uh, oh.

Has the gravy train ended? Did heaven go broke? I was in a few parts of town today with eyes peeled for the gratis gelt and there was none to be found.

I'll try again tomorrow. I hope I don't have to empty my own change purse on the sidewalk just to have something to day.

Haul for the day = naught

July 5, 6, & 7

July 7
Back Bay Station in Boston - nothing but diesel train fumes. Back in NYC and times must be tough because Penn Station was picked clean (or I was tired). There's still one more dog walk before the day is done but it's looking like a wash so far.

Total Haul for the day = naught

July 6
Boston is a clean city. The streets are so clean they don't even have money on them. After a trip to the New England Aquarium, where I expected to find more than one wayward penny, I was surprised to come home empty handed. Didn't find a thing. Not in the long line to buy tickets, not in the parking garage, not even stuck between the brick paving. That town is so clean you could pick your teeth with it.

Total haul for the day = naught

July 5
Found a nickel wedged between the curb and the picturesque sidewalk paving stones while walking to the ferry bound for Boston.

Total haul for the day = .05

TOTAL to date = $1.12
